November 2011: AdoptaPlatoon

Senior Level Communications, Inc. is honored to be the sponsor of our 7th soldier
deployed overseas.

We began our efforts in 2006, with the goal of supporting and sending a
message to our soldiers that we are thinking of you, we support you, and we care
about you. And with most outreach programs, our office staff has truly received
far more than we have given.

AdoptaPlatoon makes the supporting process so easy and seamless. We are
given a name, an address, and any personal information available, such as
age, birthday, and married or single status. The website will make suggestions
of items the soldiers seem to enjoy like toiletries, including shampoo, leave in
conditioner, toothpaste and lip gloss. Food and drink suggestions include candy,
beef jerky, single serve powdered drinks and gum.

I place a large flat rate priority mail postal box on our soldier table. And within
a few days the box starts filling up with items brought in by the staff. For “small
change”, anyone can participate that is inclined. When the box is filled, I close it
up and bring it to the post office and out it goes. Couldn’t be easier!

Some of our soldiers have responded with notes of thanks. Some have sent
us pictures. And I am even a Face book friend with one. Very gratifying to say
the least. And when our soldier is deployed home, we excitedly sign up for our
next “hero.”

Perhaps your team might want to also engage in this most rewarding outreach?

April 2011: Goodbye, Lily

Our office has a special policy on Friday. We can have one owner bring one dog to visit us for the day. First come first serve. I love animals. And it is my belief that their presence is soothing, relaxing and heck……lots of fun! I have gone so far as to read that petting an animal lowers ones blood pressure and pulse. I remember during Hurricane Katrina many people would not evacuate their homes. And it was learned afterwards that many people did not leave because they wouldn’t desert their pets. It makes perfect sense to me. My Mom got her 1st pet Pumpkin, a Maine Coon Cat, when she was 92 years young.  Now 93, my Mom has selected an independent living residence that allows pets. She states proudly she would not have moved if Pumpkin wasn’t welcomed. And she meant it!

Our staff competes for love and attention from whichever doggie is there. Many keep dog treats in their desk. And that includes me. And the dogs know where a treat is waiting. They walk right in, turn the corner, go down the hall, take a left past a bathroom and sniff one of the desks containing Milk Bone for Large Dogs or Milk Bone for Small Dog treats.

Over the years, we have fallen in love with Rascal, Pilgrim, Scarlet, Spice, and Bob to name a few. But by far my personal favorite was Lily. Lily was a beautiful yellow lab. She was a blonde and proud of it. She had long eye lashes and her sweetness was unmistakable. Lily was featured in our YouTube video we created highlighting our office culture. Lily stole the show and behaved perfectly.

Lily belonged to Amy, our “Happy Italian” administrator here at Senior Level Communications, Inc. and talked dog talk with the Fed Ex delivery man, the cleaning company that comes, and every other dog lover that she sees.

But now it is time for Lily to leave Amy and SLC. She has been struggling with seizures and Amy and her vet made the heart wrenching decision that it was time to say good-bye to our dear Lily. She will leave emptiness in all our hearts.

Senior Level Communications Receives 2009 Best of Westford Award

U.S. Commerce Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement

WASHINGTON D.C., June 8, 2009 -- Senior Level Communications has been selected for the 2009 Best of Westford Award in the Communications category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.
